This question already has an answer here:

In https://math.stackexchange.com/a/1855782/4876 there is a missing closed bracket.

When I added it, I received "Edits must be at least 6 characters; is there something else to improve in this post?"

I have left a comment in the hope that the original answerer can correct this answer.

Why this restriction and how to deal with it?

Also, does this restriction apply to the original answerer?

$\begingroup$ I went ahead and edited the bracket in. There's no character minimum for edits of one's own posts, or when one has the edit privilege (2k). Look here for why there is a minimum for suggested edits. $\endgroup$ – Daniel Fischer Jul 11 '16 at 13:42
