I would like to change my username, which is currently a number.
The appropriate user name has an accent over the letter "e", specifically an acute accent. What is the correct procedure to accomplish this?

StackExchange software supports unicode. So if you can enter the accented characters directly via your input method of choice, it will work. If you don't know how to enter an accented character, one option is to use Andrew Stacey's LaTeX-to-unicode converter and then copy-and-paste the resulting character into the textbox.
'e
produces é. If you like the copy/paste method, you might want to bookmark the following: copypastecharacter.com $\endgroup$ – Jonas Meyer Jul 16 '11 at 1:02
