# What is the {real} meaning of duplicate question?

edit: I want to know the rules of this site. I no longer care about answer and that question.

Find the least value of $\sec^6 x +\csc^6 x + \sec^6 x\csc^6 x$

First I asked this question because my attempt to solve using inequality it gives the wrong answer. So I thought it must be because it is for finding maximum value so I just ignored it. Then later I realise my method is right as it is for finding the minimum value. Then I asked this question.

But it is now closed as a duplicate. Even though they have the same equation but they have a very different objective.

My question is there a rule that that one user cannot post two questions with the same equation in them?

• If you just want to reopen your question, you should post your request on Requests for Reopen & Undeletion Votes (volume 07/2018 - today). It is pointless to have a separate post discussing why a specific question is closed. – YuiTo Cheng Apr 19 at 11:11
• @YuiToCheng I want to know the rules of this site. Reopening the question doesn't interest me. – user541396 Apr 19 at 11:18
• Still, there are already some related past discussions on this, e.g. Proof-verification and duplicates., Closing as a duplicate if the post contains OP's own proof/solution – YuiTo Cheng Apr 19 at 11:20
• @YuiToCheng so there is no objective rule about that. Just different people with different opinions? – user541396 Apr 19 at 11:23
• I'm afraid so, as meta questions with the tag (discussion) usually do not necessarily have clear-cut right or wrong answers and are often subjective. – YuiTo Cheng Apr 19 at 11:25
• @swarnim Just to let you know, I've gone ahead and posted a request on the Reopen thread concerning your question. – Brahadeesh Apr 19 at 16:02
• The rule (according to the linked meta posts above, and the votes on the answers) is that they're not duplicates, but some people may still decide to VTC against the rules. That's why there are votes to reopen. – user202729 Apr 27 at 7:37
