Here's the question: Is $X_3 = X_1 \star X_2$ always a geodesic manifold w.r.t. $X_1$ and $X_2$.

I think it's an extremely insightful question. For whatever reason it was downvoted with no explanation by the downvoter. Also, the same person probably downvoted the other 3.

This strikes me as odd.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to improve the question. I spent close to 10 hours writing and re-drafting this question.

$\begingroup$ @Aryadeva: I think the OP sees downvotes on four of his/her posts nearly simultaneously. $\endgroup$ – hardmath May 7 at 22:05

$\begingroup$ By flagging such activity for mod attention, @geocalc, I mean you can flag one question, and link to the others, or flag one question, with a link to your reputation tab... Especially if the votes came in quick succession, that helps. $\endgroup$ – amWhy May 7 at 22:19

  • $\begingroup$ @Moishe I'm just asking whether each curve in $X_I$ is a geodesic through $X_s \cup X_t.$ $\endgroup$ – geocalc33 May 8 at 1:55
  • $\begingroup$ I'd say that it's best to post a screenshot to avoid all kind of confusions. For example, some users don't have the option to see the upvotes/downvotes count on post, some others to see deleted content (whence to see the downvotes on your rep tab), etc. $\endgroup$ – Bellatrix May 8 at 2:35
