# How can I put a table here?

For example \begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|c|} \hline 1& -1 & 1 & -1 \\ \hline & & &\\ \hline & & &\\ \hline & & &\\ \hline. \end{tabular} Does not work here.

This question came from our site for people studying math at any level and professionals in related fields.

• You should ask this at the TeX Stack Exchange site, rather than here. – David Mitra Dec 5 '12 at 16:08
• @DavidMitra: It looks more like a MathJax question than a TeX one, so it should go to meta.MSE rather than tex.SE. – Henning Makholm Dec 5 '12 at 16:10
• I know that this works in the latex. My problem is that in my answer to math.stackexchange.com/questions/251583/… is difficult to see. – user29999 Dec 5 '12 at 16:13
• In my latex I can see. Here is that I can not see. – user29999 Dec 5 '12 at 16:15
• Search among questions with a TeX-tag. For example this shows up. Zev's advice helped me. – Jyrki Lahtonen Dec 5 '12 at 18:35

• First you need to tell us your axioms for tables, chairs and beer mugs. – Bill Dubuque Dec 5 '12 at 22:12

\begin{array}{|c|c|c|c|} \hline 1& -1 & 1 & -1 \\ \hline & & &\\ \hline & & &\\ \hline & & &\\ \hline. \end{array}

\begin{array}{|c|c|c|c|} \hline 1& -1 & 1 & -1 \\ \hline & & &\\ \hline & & &\\ \hline & & &\\ \hline. \end{array}

• Thank yo,, this help, but I would want like a chessboard. – user29999 Dec 5 '12 at 21:26

A "cheats" method is to write it in LaTeX locally, and include the .pdf in your post as an image.

\documentclass[crop]{standalone}

\usepackage{tikz}

\begin{document}

\resizebox{3in}{!}{
\begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|c|}
\hline
1& -1 & 1 & -1 \\ \hline
& & &\\ \hline
&  & &\\ \hline
&  & &\\ \hline.
\end{tabular}
}

\end{document}

The above would require the standalone class and tikz package.

$\left( \begin{array}{ccc} a & b & c \\ d & e & f \\ g & h & i \end{array} \right)$
