Is it ok to ask for confirmation in some exercises? [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:

I solve some exercises but I'm self-studying and some books do not have answers to the exercises, is it ok to ask if the solution is plausible here?

• @GitGud Well, actually a "Yes" can be the correct answer to "Is my solution correct?" (ironically this is the case here as well). Rewriting from "Is $x=y$? -- Noob" "Yes! -- expert" to "What is $x$? -- Noob" "$x=y$ -- Self answer by Noob" "Yes! -- expert" would be confusing.
