It seems overboard to classify the mere labeling of oneself anti-gay as hate speech. Would this apply for example to the username anti-x for various labels x that can be applied to people, for example christian, atheist, homophobe, etc? At any rate, the more unarguably germane issue is that the username is disruptive and inflammatory, not to mention poor ...

Jihad is also a (given) name; see the disambiguation page of Wikipedia for example to find several people having this name and a Wikipedia page. Or, search a bibliographic database, like MathSciNet or Zentralblatt MATH. I just did so for the latter "Jihad" in the author field yields 10 publishing mathematicians that have that name. It is at least ...

People should flag such posts as offensive posts, and not downvote the answer at all. For two main reasons: Every such flag automatically downvotes the post. After six flags the post is deleted immediately. If one feels that deletion is not enough, and some action needs to be taken against the posting user, one can flag the answer (or the question), or ...

Reminds me of this SMBC comic:

Regardless of any "official stance", I feel that the most important point to keep in mind when faced with these posts is given in Shog9's linked answer The important thing to remember here is that when the post clearly means nothing, you shouldn't be wasting too much thought trying to decipher it; flag it and move on with your life. That is, don't ...

Before I actually answer I will confer an observation from earlier discussions, actions, etc. Many a user are eager to flag such posts (and even lesser evils). Yet if not instructed otherwise, and some even then, they'll flag it as spam. Like, that's a non-sense/worthless post, spam-flagged. This should not be done as spam-flags should only be use for ...

I haven't found anything threatening in the history of either of the users with this name. Therefore I will not do anything at this time. I obviously did not check all their posts, so I may have missed something. Christian, if you have been the target of a verbal threat from either of these users, please @-ping me (you can do this "semiprivately" from one ...

As the one who disputed the flags by clearing them, I can shed some further light on it. Normally, in such cases, a "spam" flag among five correct "offensive" flags would not lead me to clear the "spam" and "offensive" flags - we cannot treat spam and offensive flags separately after a post has been deleted by getting six spam/offensive flags, we can clear ...

There never was an offensive revision of the question. Some accounts have been used to cast frivolous spam flags to delete it. A CM has looked into things and took appropriate measures. The question is undeleted again (with the answers of course).

Jihad by definition doesn't mean to kill westerners. I am uneasy about the names but I don't let it concern me and neither should you. Since it can't be proven one way or the other of their intention, forcefully changing the name is wrong. This action can cause people to dispise westerns when they had no problem before. Don't let fear of what you don't ...

In this answer, it is mentioned that if several flags with differing reasons are made on a post and one of them is disputed, they can all get marked disputed (this is a known bug). There was a flag on that post as spam, which technically, it is not. Therefore, my guess is that someone disputed that flag and all got marked as disputed. However, when the ...

I think there needs to be guidance that's not buried in the comments. Flag one of the user's posts, even if the post itself is not offensive like the user's profile bio. From the options that come up, choose "In need of moderator intervention". A text box will come up in which you can write something like This post is okay, but please look at the user's ...
