It's... uh... been a while since this request was made. We require a few things before turning a switch like this - it's pretty harmful to small sites to have what is a large chunk of potential askers to be blocked. But... Maths isn't a small site, and it hasn't been one for a loooong time. So when this request was first passed into my radar two years ago, ...

I think this comes back to the fundamental question of how people here envision the purpose of this site, and if the history of such debates is any indication, addressing the issue will lead to acrimony, drama, accusations, frustration, and other uncivil behavior on the part of certain individuals...over what I would like to remind people is ultimately just ...

The question is not spam in the literal sense of the word. And since the system is automatically trained by spam flags, you shouldn't use spam flags. You should downvote and vote to close. And you should let nature take its own course. You can should flag for a moderator's attention, to bring the account into their attention and hope it will speed the ...

Post a new question, linking back to the original with a brief explanation of how they are connected. Editing the old question is bad form, as it would require the existing answers to be re-written (which is a pain for those kind people who took the time to answer the question!). There are, of course, exceptions. The main one, as has been pointed out in ...

This is exactly where bounties are for. You have just enough reputation (75 or more) to post one. The Help Center article begins to talk about your own question, but posting a bounty on somebody else's question works just as well. A bounty is a special reputation award given to answers. It is funded by the personal reputation of the user who offers it, and ...

Yes, automata questions are considered on topic here. Regarding whether you should ask here or on CS, I would recommend asking wherever you think the question has a better chance of getting a good answer.

The question you propose is probably not a good fit for MSE. Questions on MSE should be narrowly focused and of broad interest to the community of mathematics students and mathematicians who comprise the user base of MSE. You are essentially asking someone to proofread your thesis (or, at least, the mathematically intensive portions of that thesis), which ...

Most likely you have ignored one of the tags on those questions. This can easily happen by accident (here is a recent case on our sister site Super User). If you didn't intend to do this, there's a widget in the right sidebar on all question lists (including the Meta home page) where you can undo this.

Well this was fun; basically, our background processing for these... stopped background processing. It looks like it is related to some async changes that were introduced (and possibly the dreaded sync-context deadlock that people using .NET Tasks may be aware of). So; we have a bit of a backlog to churn through, and it is going to take some time to catch up ...

This is an issue that concerns the entire network. The relevant feature request exists since a long time on the main meta Allow us to vote to delete from the Android app It is alright to have it here locally, too, but I am afraid the usefulness will be limited. In any case, I recommend you and everybody that cares for this should up-vote the request on the ...

In this case, there was an answer posted earlier today, and shortly after deleted by the author. For users below 10k reputation, such activities are invisible, but users with at least 10k can see it. Generally, sometimes inactive questions are bumped by the community bot, which also can bring actually inactive questions to the front page or the "active" tab....

In case someone stumble upon this question these days, there is a great tool for finding duplicates since 2016 : Approach0. It's quite remarkable, it can for example find same expression with different letters being used in it. For more information you can see this question where it was announced by the author: Announcing a third-party search engine for ...

My suggestion would be: after at least two weeks unanswered here, if the original poster still wants to get an answer, he/she should post the question in CS.SE (with links going both ways).

I have two specific suggestions. First, I want to remind everyone to put the relevant formulae right in the title wherever possible! If your question is about calculating the limit of some function, put the formula for the function right in the title. I personally think this should be done even with quite long formulae, but everyone's mileage varies. If we'...

I am fairly new to Mathematics Stack Exchange. I know very little about moderating, and I know very little about the details that go into managing a site like this one. As a response to @AAA I write my views on this proposition in full in this post. First, I wholeheartedly resonate with Raff's 6th point and his observation about requiring registration. It ...

This happens when several of your questions are not well-received by the community. Some things to consider for your next questions: Don't ask a question and answer it later that day. Self-answering is good, but don't ask a question too fast, without researching yourself thoroughly well enough. Do not delete any of your questions. Deleted questions still ...

Another way for this problem is to install the software of stackexchange for your device (phone or tablet with android operating system or IOS) and active notifications for this software to send you push notifications.
