Les Grandes Jorasses, iconic peak in the Haute-Savoie, next to the Mont Blanc, belongs to the legendary six great classical North of Alpes, together with the Petit Dru, the Matterhorn, the Eiger, the Pizzo Badile and Cima Grande di Lavaredo. During the Thirties was one of the last "three open problems" of the Alpes, together with the Matterhorn and the Eiger. The north face of Les Grandes Jorasses was conquered by the expedition guided by Riccardo Cassin (together with Gino Esposito and Ugo Tizzoni). It was the 6th of August 1938.
