It's not polite at all but maybe along the @mdp idea.

comment How to deal with “discomforting” downvotes?
+1. I agree completely with you. I ignore DV AFTER I recheck my answer. By the way, I have my private rude and offensive stalker that downvote, try to close or hold, check my $\LaTeX$, check the questions I edit, etc... I just ignore it ( yes IT ). In a particular question the stalker claims about the way to go from a sum to an integral in a rude, offensive manner. I didn't care to answer but I was thinking how a university professor doesn't know about 'Laplace Method for Sums'. I didn't even mention the reference about it ( Analytic Combinatoric by Philippe Flajolet and Robert Sedgewick ).

Thanks. I didn't know there was a difference between them. I always avoided ${\tt operatorname}$ because it was too long.

We can also use $\verb*{\rm ...}*$. For example, $\verb*{\rm arsinh}*$ yields ${\rm arsinh}$.

comment Consider giving better titles to the questions you answered… especially right after you answer them
@GerryMyerson I guess the system is built to bring old questions to the main page sparingly.
