$$\mathcal I\text{ fear that I may always be}$$
$$\text{A lonely number like} \sqrt{3}$$
$$\text{The } 3 \text{ is all that's good and right}$$
$$\text{Why must my three keep out of sight}$$
$$\text{Beneath this vicious} \sqrt{\text{square root }} \text{ sign ?}$$
$$\text{I wish instead I were a 9}$$
$$\text{For a 9 could thwart this evil trick,}$$
$$\text{With just some quick arithmetic } \color{grey}{\left(\sqrt 9 = 3\right)}$$

$$\text{Such is my reality, a sad irrationality} \color{grey}{\left(\sqrt 3\not\in \Bbb Q\right)}$$
$$\text{But hark! What is this I see,}$$
$$\text{Another square root of a three}$$
$$\text{Has quietly come waltzing by,}$$
$$\text{Together now we multiply }\color{grey}{\left(\sqrt 3 \times \sqrt 3\right)}$$
$$\text{To form a number we prefer,}$$
$$\text{Rejoicing as an integer} \color{grey}{\left( 3 \in \Bbb Z\right)}$$
$$\text{We break free from our mortal bonds}$$
$$\text{And with a wave of magic wands }$$
$$\text{Our} \sqrt{\text{square root }} \text{ signs become unglued}$$
$$\text{And your love for me has been renewed.}$$
